Records of Some Itawamba County Servicemen


A.V. Griffin enlisted on March 19, 1862. He served with Company G, 10th Mississippi Regiment, and was wounded at Atlanta, Georgia. He served until May 9, 1865.

S.G. Morgan enlisted May 1861 with Company E of the 14th Mississippi Regiment. He was captured at Fort Donelson.

G.W. Mattox enlisted September 1862 with the 24th Mississippi Regiment. He was in prison at Rock Island, Ill. when discharged in 1865.

J.C. Reich lost one hand by being thrown from a horse. He enlisted at Corinth, Mississippi and was discharged in 1864.

M.V. Collier enlisted in 1862 with Company G, 10th Mississippi Regiment. He was wounded at Chickmauga and discharged in 1863.

J.M. McDonald enlisted in 1861 with the 1st Mississippi Regiment, Company K. He was killed in action in the Battle of Fort Hudson in July of 1864.

E. Waddle enlisted during March of 1861 with the 2nd Mississippi Regiment, Company K. He received a broken arm at Wilderness in 1862. He surrendered at Petersboro, Virginia in 1865.

Robert Whilley enlisted in 1861. He served with Company E of the 2nd Mississippi Regiment. He was wounded in 1861, served two years in prison and surrendered at Berklin, West Virginia in 1865.

S.A. Hilliard enlisted July 28, 1862 with Company B 329 Mississippi Battalion. He was killed in the Battle of Vicksburg in June of 1863.

T.P. Rogers enlisted in 1861 with Company G of the 26th Mississippi Regiment. He was wounded in the breast with a spent ball in the spring of 1865 at Petersburg. Soon after, he was wounded and captured by the Federal troops.

John Davis enlisted on October 28, 1861. He served with Company F of the 24th Mississippi Regiment. He was in Rock Island Prison at the date of discharge.

Henry J. Partin enlisted in the spring of 1862. He served with Company F of the 24th Mississippi Regiment. He died in service during December of 1862.

Jim B. Francis enlisted on April 30, 1862 with the 43rd Mississippi Regiment. He lost one foot while fighting.

E.M. Ingle enlisted with the 1st Mississippi Regiment. He was wounded at Jackson, Mississippi. He was discharged in 1863.

W.W. Parker enlisted during 1862 with the 41st Mississippi Regiment. He was wounded at Corinth, Mississippi. He was discharged during 1864.

M.V. Collier enlistsed during 1862 with Company G of the 10th Mississippi Regiment. He was wounded at Chickmauga and discharged in 1863.

G.W. Moore enlisted in 1862 with Company F of the 24th Mississippi Regiment. He was wounded during 1864 at Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

H.F. Booth enlisted in 1861 with Company H. He was shot in the right thigh at Fort Donalson. He served until the close of the war.

W.R. Gann enlisted November of 1862 with Company H of the 1st Mississippi Regiment. He served two years and surrendered at Partharlise, S.A.

W.B. Spradling enlisted July 1, 1861 with Company K. He was captured but later paroled.

W.C. Summerford enlisted November 23, 1862 with Company H of the 1st Mississippi Regiment. He was captured and paroled in 1865.

John Townley enlisted in January 1862 with Company A of the 22nd Regiment. He was killed at the Battle of Shiloh in April of 1862.

Wesley Wilson enlisted on March 19, 1862 with Company G of the 10th Mississippi Regiment. He died in prison at Camp Douglass, Ill.
